Live inspired, keep the dream alive, stay grounded.
Thanks for stopping by to learn more about me. That's super flattering. I’d be blushing right now if I somehow knew you were reading this.
On a personal note, I'm a hard core skier (so my friends tell me), mountain biker, lover of the great outdoors and endorphin junkie. I grew up in New Jersey, ventured to Reno, NV for college and now call Salt Lake City, UT my home.
My approach to marketing is simple; think big and wild, but use data to check your gut.
Here're more about how I came to be where I am today;
I got my start in journalism right after college at Reno Gazette Journal. Those early days in journalism set me up for more success than I could have ever realized at the time. Walking up to random strangers asking them for an interview? Working on really tight deadlines that were actual deadlines and not just suggestions? The freedom to own a vision, but also carrying the weight that if you mess up, it’s all on you? Seeing a story in a different way even though you’ve already covered the 10th high school boys soccer game of the year? And it’s those skills I learned early on that have given me a solid story telling foundation; knowing a good story when you see one, but also being able to take something that otherwise might be mundane and make it interesting.
After my reporting days, I dove into the exciting, and slightly nerdy world of Search Engine Optimization at SEO.com. Although it sounds like it, SEO isn’t rocket science. It was here I learned all about how that thing Google works and all the other ways you can get people to learn about your product or service in the digital sphere.
SEO.com also taught me that if you don’t know something, Google probably does. It was here that I learned you can actually learn every single thing you could ever wanted about digital marketing (or anything, really), for free. There is an insane amount of information out there if you know where to look, and even if you don’t, if you look hard enough, you’ll find it.
For the past five years, I've worked for the overnight running relay series company and global phenomenon dubbed Ragnar. Despite popular belief we are not a sticker company. During my tenure at Ragnar I've helped grow the company from 12 races to more than 40 races including growing into two international markets. I've been able to implement new ideas to grow our website traffic, product line, social media following, engagement and bottom line sales while turning a quirky running event company into a globally recognized lifestyle brand. All with the support of my colleagues and superiors, of course.
In my free time, I have also worked with a number of outdoor brands including Twio (Blizzard and Tecnica) Terramar Sports and Boombotix speakers by providing digital marketing consulting. I've received 100% of my freelance work through referrals.
